Impact of Tariffs on Saskatchewan’s Construction Industry: A Statement from the Construction Association of Saskatchewan (CASK)
February 3, 2025
Dear Members,
On February 1, 2025, President Trump signed an executive order imposing a 25% tariff on Canadian goods, a decision that carries significant economic implications for our industry and beyond. In response, the Canadian federal government has announced countermeasures, introducing targeted tariffs on American goods to safeguard Canadian industries and workers.
The list of goods subject to these retaliatory tariffs has now been released, and its scope is considerable. We want to assure you that the Construction Association of Saskatchewan (CASK) is closely monitoring these developments. Our team has been working diligently to analyze the details and assess their potential impact on Saskatchewan’s construction sector.
Given the magnitude of these changes, we are committed to ensuring our members have the most up-to-date and relevant information. We will continue to work alongside our industry partners and government representatives to advocate for policies that protect and support Saskatchewan’s construction businesses.
We understand that these developments may raise questions and concerns, and we encourage you to reach out to us. We are here to support you and will keep you informed as more details emerge.
Our national partner, the CCA, has been actively working with the federal government to mitigate the impact of tariffs on the construction sector. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at webuildsk@constructionsk.ca.
