Construction Week Proclaimed in Saskatchewan

September 23, 2024

REGINA (September 23, 2024) – Saskatchewan’s construction community is excited to celebrate the eighth annual Saskatchewan Construction Week (SCW) from September 23rd to 27th, 2024, across the province.

SCW is a week-long celebration highlighting the positive social and economic contributions that construction brings to the everyday lives of Saskatchewan residents. Construction is a key part of Saskatchewan’s economy contributing approximately $4.4 billion to the province’s GDP.  There are over 43,000+ (seasonally adjusted) people employed in the province’s construction industry, making it one of the most important economic sectors in Saskatchewan in terms of job creation. Saskatchewan Construction Week is a great opportunity to shine a light on an industry that often works behind the scenes but plays a crucial role in building the province.

“Their contributions are vital, not just in constructing roads, schools, and hospitals, but in shaping the very foundation of our future,” Construction Associations of Saskatchewan co-CEO Kevin Dureau said. “This week, we honour their commitment, resilience, and the essential role they play in ensuring Saskatchewan remains strong and prosperous.”

“During Saskatchewan Construction Week, we celebrate the dedicated professionals who form the backbone of our province’s economy,” Construction Associations of Saskatchewan co-CEO Shannon Friesen said. “These skilled workers, often behind the scenes, build the infrastructure that drives our communities forward.”

Since its inception in 2017, Saskatchewan Construction Week has grown, featuring major events like ConEx—Saskatchewan’s only commercial and industrial construction conference and trade show. The week is also a chance to focus on investment attraction and economic development, recognizing construction as one of Saskatchewan’s largest employment sectors. More than 43,000+ people work in construction across the province, making it a cornerstone of both economic and social growth.

Saskatchewan Construction Week has been officially proclaimed by the Government of Saskatchewan and recognized by municipalities including Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Saskatoon, Regina, North Battleford, Humboldt and Meadow Lake. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating this important industry and its vital role in shaping Saskatchewan’s future.
Saskatchewan’s construction industry remains a vital part of the province’s growth, playing a central role in both urban development and rural infrastructure.
