CASK’s Statement on Unjustified Tariffs Imposed by President Trump
March 4, 2025
In the last 24 hours, U.S. President Trump and his administration imposed heavy tariffs on Canadian goods. In response, the Canadian federal government swiftly announced countermeasures, introducing targeted tariffs on $30 billion worth of American goods, with $125 billion worth of additional goods to be levied in 21 days.
These trade measures will significantly impact Saskatchewan’s construction industry, increasing costs for essential materials like steel, aluminum, and lumber. Higher material prices could lead to project delays, increased costs, and increased risk for builders across the province.
The Construction Association of Saskatchewan (CASK) urges the Government of Saskatchewan to assess immediate and long-term challenges and find potential solutions for the construction industry. We will continue to closely monitor these developments working alongside the Canadian Construction Association (CCA)
