Introducing the Saskatchewan Construction Dispute Resolution Office
The Saskatchewan Construction Dispute Resolution Office (SCDRO) holds a critical role as the designated adjudication authority under the Saskatchewan Builders’ Lien Act, appointed by the Government of Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Justice and Attorney General.
As devoted advocates for prompt payment and adjudication legislation in Saskatchewan, our associations have committed to providing the construction industry with this essential service.
Adjudication serves as a swift and efficient method for resolving construction disputes. Parties involved in construction contracts can access this fast, straightforward and cost-effective dispute resolution process under the Builders’ Lien Act.
Adjudication is an alternate dispute resolution (ADR) process, resulting in a binding decision for all parties involved. While the decision holds binding authority, it remains interim. If any party is dissatisfied with the outcome, they retain the option to pursue subsequent legal proceedings or accept the adjudication as final.
Under the Builders’ Lien Act, parties may initiate adjudication over various disputes, including but not limited to the valuation of services or materials, payment disputes, non-payment notices, retention amounts, certification of substantial performance and any other matters agreed upon by the parties.
